CONCOURS : La PouBelle Province

L'équipe de La PouBelle Province sera présente au Cinéma Excentris tout le week-end des 18-19-20 et 21 mai pour rencontrer et discuter avec le public après chacune des projections. Des invités d'invités spéciaux se joindront au réalisateur à quelques occasions :

• vendredi 18 mai 15h : Karel Ménard, du Front commun québécois pour une gestion écologique des déchets  (FCQGED)

• vendredi 18 mai 20h30 : Coralie Deny, directrice générale du Conseil régional de l'environnement de Montréal  

•  dimanche 20 mai 20h30 : Action Re-Buts, organisme qui célèbre cette année son 20e anniversaire et qui organise la Semaine québécoise de réduction des déchets  

• lundi 21 mai 15h : Maître Michel Bélanger, avocat reconnu en droit de l'environnement et qui avait participé aux états généraux sur la gestion des matières résiduelles au Québec en 1996.

CINECHAMBER

Avant le cinéma, il y avait les lanternes magiques. Après le cinéma, il y a CineChamber.

CineChamber, c'est 10 écrans et encore plus de haut-parleurs qui forment une installation procurant une expérience audiovisuelle inouïe. Vous n'en croirez ni vos yeux, ni vos oreilles.

En plus des 5 programmes de courts métrages panoramiques diffusés du 22 mai au 3 juin, Mutek invite des artistes à s'approprier cet espace de création hors du commun et s'y produire.

Following the death of the Pope, the Conclave meets to elect his successor. A cardinal is chosen who seems unable to bear the weight of such a responsibility. Is it anxiety? Is it depression? Does he feel inadequate? The faithful are waiting for the new Pope to appear on the balcony in St. Peter's Square. The world is on tenterhooks, while in the Vatican they seek ways to come through the crisis.

Mouvements intérieurs

Starting May 9, Excentris shines a spotlight on filmmaker Pierre Hébert.

The event titled Mouvements intérieurs will be twofold. On one hand, a selection of his most recent short films will be presented.

On the other, the Hall will host an exposition of drawings inspired by the work of the French author Nathalie Sarraute called Tropismes.

Fortunate Son

Fortunuate Son is an autobiographical documentary by the son of Greek immigrants living in Canada. After overcoming a severe drug problem, and motivated by a search for happiness with his new fiancee, filmmaker Tony Asimakopoulos turns his gaze on his complicated, painful relationship with his overbearing mother and ailing father, and the patterns of dysfunction they share. A film about faith, despair, renewal, and the different kinds of love in a family, Fortunate Son follows the filmmaker from his childhood home in Montreal, to the Greek villages of his parents' birth, and beyond.
