Fantastic Bayou, amazing film
Acclaimed by the critic, winner of the Cannes 2012 Caméra d’Or and the 2012 Sundance Jury Grand Prize, Benh Zeitlin’s feature debut will start playing this Friday, July 13.
This imaginative tale introduces us to a mesmerizing world. Six year-old Hushpuppy lives at an orphanage. With her mother long gone and her beloved father Wink, a wild man, on a perpetual spree, Hushpuppy is left to her own devices on an isolated compound filled with semi-feral animals. She perceives the natural world as a fragile web of living, breathing, squirting things, in which the entire universe depends on everything fitting together just right.
The most influent critic in cinema, Roger Ebert, considers Beasts of the Southern Wild to be one of the best movies of the year.
